Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

Sofra ("we", "us") helps you and your household plan meals, track dishes and restaurants, and understand your eating and spending. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Sofra you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

  • Account information — your name and email address, provided when you sign up or sign in with Google.
  • Content you create — meals, dishes, restaurants, costs, notes, ratings, your household name and members, and an optional profile photo.
  • Basic technical data — information needed to run the app reliably and authenticate your session.

We do not collect your location, contacts, messages, or browsing activity, and we do not use third-party advertising trackers.

How we use your information

  • To provide the core features — saving your meal history, generating plans, and computing insights.
  • To sync your data across the members of your household.
  • To send the reminders you opt into (these are scheduled on your device).
  • To maintain security and diagnose problems.

We do not sell your personal information.

How your data is stored and shared

Your data is stored using Google Firebase — Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Cloud Storage — which processes it on our behalf under Google's terms and security. Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS).

Content you create within a household is visible to the members of that household. If you sign in with Google, Google handles that authentication. We do not share your personal information with other third parties for their own purposes.

Your choices and rights

  • Edit or delete any meal, dish, restaurant, rating, or your profile photo at any time.
  • Export your meal history as a CSV file.
  • Delete your account from Settings, which removes the personal data associated with your account. Shared meals may remain visible to other members of a household you were part of.
  • Notifications are opt-in and can be turned off in Settings or your device settings.

Data retention

We keep your content while your account is active so your meal memory stays available. When you delete your account, your personal profile data is removed.

Children

Sofra is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. The "kids tiffin" feature is a planning tool used by adults; it does not create accounts for children or collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date.
